====== Tablet setup ====== ===== Purpose and Scope ===== In this page, you will learn how to perform the basic setup of android devices. Note that this procedure is based on a Lenovo tablet. Changes occur when configuring tablets from other brands. ===== Prerequisite ===== None ===== Material ===== You will need the following material: * An Android tablet (runnin Android version 9 or 10) * A Wi-Fi with internet connection * An IT coordinator with a master tablet to allow parental control. Remember to never share the master tablet's credentials! ===== Android Setup ===== First, setup Android. If you own a Lenovo, follow these steps: [[tablet-setup#Android Setup on Lenovo tablet]]. If you have a Samsung tablet, make sure to follow this procedure: [[tablet-setup#Android Setup on Samsung tablet]] ==== Android Setup on Lenovo Tablet ==== If you own a Lenovo Tablet, follow these steps to setup your tablet: - Charge the tablet’s battery until it reaches 100% - Choose ''English'' and press ''Start'' - Agree to the license agreement. - Skip the Wi-Fi connection for now (confirm it). - Setup date and time. - Accept the terms. - Skip the tablet locking process (''Not Now'' & ''Skip Anyway'') - Skip face recognition. - Skip Lenovo ID. - Accept user experience program. - Choose the classic mode for the navigation method. - You should now have access to Android. - Set screen timeout to ''30min''. ==== Android Setup on Samsung Tablet ==== If you own an Android Tablet, follow these steps to setup your tablet: - Charge the tablet’s battery until it reaches 100%. - Choose ''English'' and press ''Start''. - Agree to the license agreement. - Skip the Wi-Fi connection for now (confirm it). - Setup date and time. - Accept the required terms, do not accept terms that are optional. - Skip Samsung account creation. - Skip security settings such as locking process. - You should now have access to Android. - Set screen timeout to 30min: Open the ''Settings'' app, navigate to ''Display'' and set ''Screen timeout'' to ''30 minutes''. - De-activate auto-correct: In ''Settings'' > ''General management'', select ''Samsung keyboard'' and take off ''Predictive text''. ===== MAC Address Setup ===== To check if the MAC address is set for the Dynamic Study network, follow this procedure: - Open ''Settings'' from the main app list. - Click on ''Connections'', then select ''Wi-Fi''. - Select your Wi-Fi, generally ''Dynamic Study''. - Find and select ''Advanced''. - Look at ''MAC address type'': * If it is set to ''Tablet MAC'', leave it and exit. * If it is set to ''Randomised MAC'', change to ''Tablet MAC''. ===== Applications Setup ===== - Search ''Parental control'' in the search bar. - Click on ''Digital Wellness & Parental control'' - Follow the steps to enable parental control. **You must be able to communicate with your local IT Coordinator.** ==== Apps Management using Family Link App ==== As an IT Coordinator, follow this procedure to update apps management from the master tablet: -
