medAL-reader User Guide

Purpose and Scope

This page gathers information on how to use the medAL-reader application on Android devices.

Prerequisite

Make sure to own an Android device with the medAL-reader app. Follow the steps given here to setup your Android tablet.

Material

You will need the following material:

  • An Android device with medAL-reader app

Run medAL-reader application

These steps show how to open the medAL-reader app:

  1. Make sure your tablet is charged and unlock it.
  2. Navigate to the apps screen (swipe the screen from bottom to top while on Android home screen).
  3. From there, the apps should be ordered in alphabetical order. Navigate until you find medAL-reader.
  4. Click on the application.

Login

These steps show hot to login to the application:

  1. Open medAL-reader. You should arrive to the Connect to medAL-data page.
  2. Connect to medAL-reader.
  3. On medAL-reader, in the Server address field, enter your medAL-data address. The Device ID represents your device's auth ID found in medAL-data.
  4. Click on Login.
  5. A new window will open showing medAL-data. Login with your credentials.
  6. Click on Authorize.

Create a New Patient and Start the Consultation

Follow these steps to create a new patient and start its consulation:

  1. From medAL-reader’s home screen, click on scan QR-code or New patient and fill in all the mandatory registration information (marked by an *).
  2. Click on next on the bottom right of the screen. This will take you to the beginning of the consultation.
  3. You may continue and follow steps as requested by the application (and always fill the questions marked by an *).

Create a Consultation for an Existing Patient

Follow these steps to create a new consultation for an already existing patient:

  1. From the home screen, you must click on the Patient list button.
  2. You may search / filter to find your patient.
  3. Click on it, then press Add Consultation. This will take you to the beginning of the consultation.

Push Medical Data to medAL-data Server

If you get an alert indicating that the medical data has not been synchronized, follow these steps to push medical cases to the medAL-data server:

  1. go to the medAL-reader’s side menu
  2. Hit the Synchronize button.
  3. Follow the instructions.
